week 30

Oh let's get this show on the road all ready!

I'm out of breath all the time. I get dressed, I'm outta breath. I take a shower, I'm outta breath. I laugh a little too hard, I'm outta breath, I can't breathe!!! But I sure can eat! I'm eating as much as Kim is these days. I love the $5 footlongs from Subway.
My doctor's appointment today went really well. Not dilated or anything, good news. My fundal was measuring at 31cm, and weight gain is still going up and up. The baby was taking a nap during my appt today and his heart rate was 130's. And just by feeling him, the doc guesses that he is head down thus far. But all together a great appt.
Rollie Polei Olie, aka, Gavin, is just a rolling ball of fun in my tummy. Its to a point now were we can watch him roll across my tummy. You no longer need to put your hand on and feel him move, you can see his butt roll right along my belly button. Oh and the cutest thing! He's so much like me all ready, he's a hiccup man! So far, he's had the hiccups 3 times (that I know of). Its so cute its like just little bump, bump, bump, like a rhythm. I thought at first, man this guy can carry a beat, tapping his fingers and toes like that, but then the dr told me he most likely had the hiccups the whole time, who knows if he has a rhythm or not yet.
On my way out my dr asked that I sign up for a breatfeeding class (mar.27th) and our labor and delivery tour (mar. 23rd) and got my 2 appointments set up for March (mar. 6th and Mar. 23rd) so March looks like its going to be a busy month for me and baby, but bring it on. I'm ready to go this show on the road, ready to meet our little man.
Ok more to come as the guy kicks my ribs and we go to our march dr appts.

week 27

WATCH OUT!
We've officially entered our last trimester! It seems like it was 10 years ago when we were told we were pregnant, and now, only 13 weeks left. Which I'm sure will feel like another 10 years. But its exciting nonetheless!
As for the pregnancy, I just got the green light to go ahead and eat another 350 calories a day, can I get a whoot-whoot! So bring on the deliciousness that desserts have to offer. No I'm not going to get my extra 350 cals from a bag of veggies, or more fruit.....I'm going to get it through the old fashion way, sweets!
Two things new this week, that's all ready really beginning to get on my nervous are nosebleeds and cramps. Wtf, is up with the nosebleeds? I asked my dr after my third one and was like, ok, explain what's happened to me. She said I don't drink enough water. Well obviously, but isn't a nosebleed a little over the top? So, I guess I need to up my water intake. So much for my strategy of only peeing once every 2 hours. And how are you suppose to do this. They want you to have fruits (70% water), veggies (80% water), milk, juices, and 8 oz of water 8 times a day. I think a great invention that I'm going to patent, would be a portable toliet that can go with me everywhere and fits in my purse, but doesn't keep all the waste.
As for those cramps, I remember my friend Heather telling me about this. So I wasn't shocked when it happened and didn't call the dr for this one, but HOLY CRAP, they suck. When you get those cramps in your calf, you know the point and flex ones. And your legs tenses up, you can't move from your knee down, and you feel like it would be less painful just to cut it off then go through this cramp. Yeah it was one of those, 3 times this week. 2 on the right leg and one on the left, all 3 different nights, but all of them between the hours of 2am and 4am. gotta love being pregnant.
So there is the update, last trimester we're here! Lets get this show on the road huh? Next dr. appt is february 12, so I'll write you all then and keep you posted.

week 25

What a busy week its been! Ultrasounds and doctor appointments. Not to mention me going back to work, as well getting Kim ready to leave on his big deployment January 20th.
Dr appts went very well. Baby's heart rate was in the 150's. My fundal height was 25cm. getting bigger and bigger. My weight gain is offically 20 pounds (and gaining). Blood pressure was great (for a kirk) 117/98. The baby is getting stronger and made it known that he's not to thrilled with dr. appts. With all the poking and prodding, he really acted up. I could have done my fetal kick count (count how long it take for him to kick 10 times) in 5 minutes. This guy was not happy with being pushed around. Even the dr made a comment of how much he moves. It reminded me of hurricane kirk which made landfall March 30 1983, you guys may know him as Brent Kirk. Its become of my favorite things to do; to sit back and do my fetal kick count. It create such a calming peace as you just lay back and say, "ok gavin, kick away, I'm counting."Anxiety and tension is starting to seep its way into our home. Kim's upcoming deployment has us all in a bit of a panic. Nothing unusal with an upcoming deployment. But there are all these "what if's" running back and forth in our brains. I know you can't live your life with "what if's" but what if we didn't? would we be prepared for unpreparable? So...he doesn't wanna leave, I don't want him to leave, and even Crash is beginning to act up. May just be our feelings of saddness and anxiety rubbing off on him. Anyways, that's the update for week 25. Check back towards the end of January for the next doc appt update.

Baby shower fun

Crash had a good time too. There were so many kids for him to practice with.

Who can change the baby the fastest? Heather won. I need more practice.

Kim cooked an amazing turkey in our fryer!

Just in case there were any doubts. Still a boy!

Look at those chipmunk cheeks! No more alien face for our boy.

Uncle Brent will love this one. Gavin picking his nose. Its a side profile picture, but at the time, he decided to pick his nose for the camera.

Our little man sticking his fingers in his mouth.....tastes yummy.
Gavin can stick his feet up, and put his toes on his forehead.

week 21

Boy, do we have a mover and a shaker. Its a true California kid growing in my belly right now, he's all about going 90mph during an earthquake. I think that is going to be his nickname, Earthquake. I've been able to feel him move around, started about 2 weeks ago, the feelings are getting stronger and are happening more and more often. Its more than just the fluttering now. He's straight up doing the backstroke and kicking around, lounging around inside his personal jucuzzi. He's a big and healthy boy. We had a dr appt yesterday. His heart rate was in the 140's. My weight gain is officially at 13 pounds. No comment. Its all for the baby is what I keep telling myself. He's growing and moving all around.
Kim and I have really got a new look on the pregnancy since we've felt the baby move. The first time Kim was able to feel a punch it was so exciting. It made this more than just, "Oh yeah we're pregnant". There's really a baby in there, our baby. Our little Gavin. It made it more exciting and now we are just filled with anticipation and fright.
I would like to give a big shout out to Heather. She gave me a HUGE bag full of 0-3 months boys clothes. Oh my gosh and she gave me all the little sports stuff that say "little slugger" and "future quarterback" plus, a bunch of clothes with little doggies like Crash on it. So big shout out, I think we're gonna be able to get by 0-3 months now. So we can now switch our focus to getting 3-6 and on now. Thank you Heather for having a baby 7 months before me!
Other then that, we're in full holiday swing. HOpefully everyone has gotten their christmas card by now. Let me know if you didn't, and I'll figure out why not. I'm getting ready to fly home for the holidays, Kim is unfortunetly not coming with me but because he's working now, he should be able to see the baby born. Then, we're out of the military and he'll be around all the time. Which is great, because I'm going my 9 months....he gets the next 9 months!
